There are two main types of pond tubing available which are kink-free and flexible PVC pipe. You will want to use the kink-free on small ponds or garden fountains, and the flexible PVC on everything else.
Kink-Free TubingView Product Page
Kink free pond hose requires no glue for easy installation (uses stainless steel hose clamps), will not cave in, kink, or crimp, but remains flexible, maintains optimum performance of water flow with little resistance with a smooth bore, and inhibits algae growth with its black color. Available in sizes ranging from 3/4″ to 1-1/2″.

Flexible PVC pipeView Product Page
PVC flexible pond hose is the current standard of water feature building. Flexible PVC pond pipe is reinforced with a rigid PVC helix which helps protect against pipe bursts due to freezing and thawing. Works in temps -14 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Can be used below or above ground, and as a pond overflow pipe. Sizes available are 1″ to 3″.
Retails from $49.99 to $599.99.
